In April 2019, some of the onboard facilities and services were renewed, and many people rode the train, but it ended its operation in March 2022. The nickname "Toreiyu" is a coined word combining "train" and "soleil," which means sun in French. In addition, the Shinkansen cars were modified based on the design concept of enjoying the train journey while strolling around a hot spring town, experiencing "food (various ingredients blessed by the sun)," "hot springs," "history and culture," and "nature," and it was born as a train where the ride itself is the purpose (a fun train).
